What to Expect From Your In-Home Newborn Session | Central Coast Photographer

I’m always so honoured to be welcomed into my clients worlds during this time, everything is so new and filled with that lack-of-sleep exhaustion mixed with an incredible loving energy. It’s my favourite thing about home newborn photography. There’s just something about you in your safe place, your home filled with memories and loved ones.

You may have already booked in your session, you’re still thinking about newborn photos, or you’re one of the many mums who have had their baby already and it’s now about a week-in from their birth and you’re realising just how quickly they’re changing and starting to grow . You panic… “I don’t want to forget how small and fresh they are right now” - it’s something I hear often from new parents.

Your little ones wondrous eyes are starting to open more, observe, they outgrow their 00000 clothes so quick, and I usually receive a message or call around this time.

Planning our session

We plan, it’s nothing complicated, and I gather what you’d like from your newborn photo experience, your favourite textures, colours and moments you’d like captured. We decide on a package and I send through the booking details, which include a little questionnaire to get to know your family better and get the most out of your session with me.

The day before

I’m cleaning, sanitising and packing my car full with things we may need. I bring along my blankets, fabrics, wraps and a giant soft beanbag that I can pose baby on after our family photos. I arrive to your home mid morning to unpack and set up.

This usually takes me about half an hour, while you guys relax and feed. I set up by a window or sliding door and there’s no need to clean up, tidy the house or any of that jazz - trust me it won’t be seen in the photos and I’ve seen everything in my career as a newborn photographer, we can work with ANY space, no matter how small or even dark.

To start

We usually get our family photos in first, along with those heart-melting sibling shots. Then we move onto your littlest one. They’re wrapped, soothed and photographed in the most gentle way, capturing their little features in the most natural and timeless way.

The day ends after a few hours, giving us enough time for chats, food breaks, cries and nappy changes. Nothing is rushed, and there’s no pressure to stick to a timeline. I believe in photographing you guys as you are - with gentle guidance as needed.

After our session

I’ll be culling the photos and hand editing all the best images before uploading them to your own private gallery about two weeks after our time together.

From here you can choose your favourites and finishing touches are applied before your final gallery is sent out ready to download and print directly to your phone or computer. I work with some of Australia’s best imaging companies to bring my clients the luxury and quality print and wall products they may want. These are always available to you, but not an obligation as you have your digital files to print whenever you’re ready.

Often the families I meet become friends, and I’m honoured to follow along in their life journey and photograph special milestones - it’s truly the best part of this photog. life!

I hope this gives you a bit of insight into what a session may look like with me, and if you have any questions please shoot them my way, you can reach me anytime online or on my mobile.

If we’ve worked together before or have a session coming up I want to thank you for inviting me into your home, trusting me as your photographer, and letting me pursue this passion of mine. x Suz
